AFF Seeking Volunteers: Veterans Liaison Officer & High Performance Commission Member

The Australian Fencing Federation (AFF) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for two important volunteer positions to support the development, connection, and performance of our fencing community.

1. Veterans Liaison Officer (Volunteer Role)

The AFF is seeking a dedicated volunteer to help strengthen engagement with our Veterans community (ages 40+). This 2–4 hours per week role supports Veteran fencers across Australia through communication, event coordination, and general assistance with international competition preparation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the primary liaison for the Australian Veterans fencing community
  • Communicating updates on international competitions, selection policies, and event logistics
  • Supporting Veteran athletes preparing for overseas tournaments
  • Responding to Veterans’ enquiries and directing them to the right AFF contacts
  • Helping maintain consistent communication channels
  • Providing feedback on community needs and opportunities

2. Independent High Performance Commission (HPC) Member

The AFF is recruiting an independent member for the High Performance Commission, which oversees the High Performance Program for Olympic and Paralympic disciplines. This skills-based Commission plays an essential governance and leadership role.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Independence from the AFF Board
  • Not being a current national athlete or High-Performance Program member
  • Not coaching an athlete in the High-Performance Program
  • Agreement to be bound by the HPC Charter and AFF Policies

Desired skill sets:

  • Athlete development & wellbeing
  • High performance systems and athlete pathways

Meetings are generally held monthly via video conference.
