Youth Olympic Games quota announcement
The Australian Fencing Federation (AFF) can confirm that it has received the quota allocation for one athlete to participate at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.
The event takes place from 31 October to 13 November 2026, and we have been given our allocation for one athlete to attend in the Women’s Foil category.
Given the limited number of spots in the fencing competitions at the Games, federations were given allocations to compete from the International Olympic Committee via the Australian Olympic Committee. This was based on an allocation framework which prioritises universal representation, strict gender balance, and strong African participation.
As such, the IOC has given the AFF one spot to participate at the competition.
The AFF circulated its Selection Policy for the Games a few weeks ago which sets out how the athlete in Women’s Foil will be selected to represent Australia.
