Important Dates for Veterans – Updated

Commonwealth Nominations now open

Fencers can nominate to attend the Veteran Commonwealth Championships HERE.
A list of fencers that have already nominated can be found HERE.

2022 Veteran Commonwealths Championships:

Nomination for entries will open on the 11th April and will close on the 8th May.  All nominations for entries will be entered into the Commonwealth Veteran’s event.  Fencers will be required to indicate if they are available for the official team event at the time of nominating.

Selection for the team event for each weapon/gender will be based on those fencers that indicate they are available for the team event. Four fencers will be selected based on the Australian rankings as of the 8th May from the fencers that indicate they are available.

As the Veteran Commonwealth Championships is an FIE sectioned event, all fencers must have a 2022 FIE licence before the event entry date (9 June, 2022). Information on how to obtain an FIE license is available HERE

As the Veteran Commonwealth Championships tour is combined with Senior, Junior and Cadet Commonwealth events, a tour Levy deposit of $250 will be required when nominating per event as a deposit.  Please see the cost recovery information below.

2022 Veteran World Championships:

Nominations for selection to World Veterans will be open from the 31st July and will close on the 22nd August.  4 fencers in each age group, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, will be selected based on the Australian Veteran Rankings as of the 22nd August.

Selection for the team’s event will be based on those fencers that are selected for the individual events.  With one fencer from each age group being selected, with the reserve for each age group to be based on results in the individual event.

Cost recovery – Commonwealth Veterans

The AFF works on a cost recovery basis for all representative tours. It does not make a profit from the tours, and it is not possible to provide exact estimates of costs prior to travel (due to last-minute changes and external matters).  The process for invoicing fencing tours is outlined HERE.

Participants on the tour share costs associated with running the tour. For this tour, athletes will be charged as follows:

  • A deposit on the Tour Levy of $250.00 for each entry at time of nomination.

This amount will contribute to individual and team entries only. For clarity, it does not include the cost of travel, accommodation, or meals.  Travel, accommodation, and meals will be up to the individual fencer to arrange and manage.

A reconciliation will be undertaken post the event with refunds provided as required based on individual and team entries.
