All in readiness in Hong Kong

A large delegation of Australian athletes, coaches and team supporters have descended on Hong Kong and are putting the final preparations together ahead of the 2026 Senior World Fencing Championships.

A total of 23 fencers making up six teams will be representing the green and gold at the event which begins tomorrow and continues over the next 10 days.

Team members have spent the past few days arriving in Hong Kong and acclimatising to the humid conditions, while putting finishing touches on what will be the pinnacle event of a long season.

Speaking ahead of opening day of competition, Team Manager Andrew Weiss said that there was a positive vibe amongst the Australian Camp.

“It has been great to see the group come together and spirits are high ahead of the first day of the event tomorrow,” Weiss said.

“What is clear is the amount of pride you can see from our athletes being here to represent the country, and to see what they can do against the best in the world on the biggest stage of all.”

“It has been a very smooth transition into Hong Kong for our team and we are all looking forward to getting on the piste tomorrow!”

Day one will begin include the Men’s Foil Individual Pools and Preliminary DE up to T64 as well as the Women’s Epée Individual Pools and Preliminary DE up to T64.
