AFF Releases 2025 Athlete Survey Report

The Athletes’ Commission, is proud to release the 2025 Athlete Survey Report, providing valuable insights into the experiences and challenges of our fencing community.

Conducted between May 11 and June 4, 2025, the survey gathered feedback from 105 athletes across Australia, representing a diverse range of states, weapons, and age groups. This marks the second annual survey by the Athletes’ Commission, designed to inform AFF’s strategic decisions and enhance athlete engagement.

The report presents insights from both quantitative and qualitative feedback, along with key recommendations across the following focus areas:

• Demographics & Participation – Who our athletes are and why they fence.
• Competitions – Satisfaction with event organisation, refereeing, and venues.
• Communications – How well AFF informs and engages athletes.
• High-Performance Program – Feedback on training, tours, and support.
• Para-Fencing – Opportunities and barriers for inclusion.
• General Feedback – Overall perceptions of fairness, trust, and governance.

The AFF Board will review these findings and integrate them into the AFF’s Operational Plan, ensuring athlete voices remain central to the growth and development of fencing in Australia.
