Novel Coronavirus risk minimisation

With the 2020 national circuit about to commence with Junior National Championships in Melbourne from 14-16 February, the AFF is addressing health risks arising from the recent outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Registered athletes have been contacted and asked not to attend the tournament if they have been in mainland China within 14 days of the competition. Family, friends and spectators planning on attending the event are also asked to observe this restriction.

Hand sanitizers will be made available at the venue and fencers and supporters are strongly encouraged to maintain strict personal hygiene, including regular hand washing.

Additionally, for this competition, fencers will not be expected to ‘shake hands’ at the conclusion of bouts. Fencers are only required to salute post-match.
