Independent Committee Members Positions

The Australian Fencing Federation (AFF) is the governing body responsible for providing the community with the opportunity to play fencing from junior levels through to elite competition. Our purpose is to advance the sport of fencing by fostering participation and growing a diverse and supportive community. We support individuals to thrive and engage with fencing throughout their whole life.

Our aspirations are to be a globally recognised leader in the Olympic sport of fencing. We will create an accessible community that values diversity to encourage passion for our sport and build lifelong connections through fencing. Our key priorities are:

  • Fencing for Everyone: Promoting inclusivity, diversity, and lifelong participation in fencing.
  • Excellence in Governance and Safe Sport: Upholding integrity and best practices in governance while prioritising safety for all participants.
  • Growth through Development and Innovation: Enhancing performance, participation, and sustainability with innovative approaches.
  • Connection to Community and Country: Strengthening the Australian Fencing Federation’s connection, and contribution, to society and the environment.

The AFF Committees
The AFF is led by a skills-based board of elected and appointed directors, who oversee and provide strategic leadership to our organisation sub-committees. In line with our Strategic Plan we are currently recruiting committee members for our National Competitions Committee and High Performance Commission.

The AFF strives to support and promote excellence in committees through the recruitment of qualified, experienced members from diverse backgrounds. We want people who can question and challenge constructively, who bring diverse views, who can influence others and find solutions. Committee positions are voluntary and most Committee meetings are held monthly in video conferences.

Eligibility
To be eligible a candidate must be:

  • agreement to be bound by the Committee Terms of Reference and the AFF’s Policies.
  • Be independent of the AFF Board.

Please note that High Performance Commissions members cannot be currently on the AFF High Performance Program or be the coach of an AFF High Performance Program member.
