To remain registered as an accredited coach with the Australian Fencing Federation, coaches must satisfy the requirements listed below. Coaches must log in and declare that they have met the minimum requirements in the AFF Onpoint System.

Refer to individual state websites for the relevant membership category and fee.

The certification process varies from state to state. Please check with your state association if you are unsure.

All coaches must hold a current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) qualification.

This is a free, online course provided by Sports Australia. It contains four modules, including assessment, and takes around four hours to complete. It must be completed every four years.

Each coaching level requires the following number of annual coaching hours to remain current.

The AFF has a prescribed list of Continual Learning Activities (CLAs). The list of CLAs is located in the portal.

For 2022 the AFF has waived the requirement for Level 2 and Level 3 coaches to meet the CLA requirements, however, coaches are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the CLAs listed to achieve in the current period.

Level 0 and Level 1 Coaches do not have a CLA requirement.

Insurance

Accredited coaches who provide details of where they coach have public liability insurance coverage under the AFF national insurance scheme.

Ensure your insurance coverage is up-to-date by declaring your coaching locations with the AFF.
