The Role of the Commission

The role of this Commission is to:

  • Conduct information seminars for athletes at appropriate national forums (e.g. camps, tournaments)
  • Represent the interests and views of athletes at national meetings.

The 2009 AGM agreed to amend the AFF Constitution to provide for an Athletes’ Representative to attend AFF General Meetings with voting rights (except for the election of positions on the AFF Executive).

The Athletes’ Representative will be elected by and from the AFF Athletes Commission in a manner determined by the AFF Executive, but must be a:

  • currently competing fencer (defined as having competed in at least one AFF national tournament in the past calendar year) and
  • financial member of a state affiliated with the Federation.

As there are currently a number of vacancies on the AFF Athletes Commission, there will soon be a call for nominations to fill the weapon specific vacancies (see below).

Once all vacancies are filled, the Commission will be convened to identify the Athletes’ Representative to AFF General Meetings.
