1. The FIE has appointed a group of sabre experts (from a range of countries) to observe the testing of the new sabre en garde line and obtain feedback from athletes, coaches and referees at these events. This group will prepare a report which will be considered by the FIE Executive Committee at its meeting in February 2017. The current test period will be extended until that date.

2. It has been decided to undertake further testing of the proposed reduction in the injury time break (from 10 minutes to 5 minutes). This change was trialled at the JWC in Bourges 2016 and will be trialled again at the 2017 JWC in Plovdiv and the 2017 SWC in Leipzig. A final decision on the change will be made at the 2017 FIE Congress.

3. The 2018 Junior & Cadet World Championships will be held in Verona, Italy.

4. The 2019 Senior World Championships will be held in Budapest, Hungary (selected ahead of Torun, Poland and Tbilisi, Georgia). Budapest's bid was presented by two-time Olympic gold medallist Aron Szilagyi and included provision for a pre-competition training camp for fencers from developing countries and one night's free accommodation for all accredited participants.

5. The 2019 Cadet & Junior World Championships have been awarded to Torun, Poland.

6. Cairo, Egypt has offered its candidacy for the 2019 Veterans World Championships.

7. There will be an annual World Fencing Day (to be held on the second Saturday of September each year)!

And finally, Congratulations to David Baker who was today elected as a member of the FIE's Publicity and Promotion Commission for the next four years! In a huge field of 35 candidates, David received the highest number of votes!! David's election is a fitting reflection of the massive amounts of time, energy and enthusiasm he has invested in promoting fencing internationally, particularly in the lead-up to the Rio Olympics. We are proud of David's achievement, which gives Australia further representation on the world stage! Well done Dave!!
