2014 Annual General Meeting
The AFF 2014 Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Sunday 25 May 2014, at the Tasman Room, NSW Institute of Sport building (next door to Sports House) at 6B Figtree Drive, Sydney Olympic Park, NSW, from 2pm to 4pm. Official notice of this AGM has been provided to Members (State Associations).
The 2014 AGM will receive the 2013 Annual Report (including financial statements, Commission reports and State Association reports), and deal with any items of business submitted for the meeting agenda.
Any member of the fencing community is welcome to make submissions to the AGM through their State Association or the Athletes Commission on policy and strategy (as opposed to operational) matters.
All supporting reports and items for business to be considered will be able to be accessed in the secure web Portal (http://portal.fencing.org.au) as they become available after 20 April. We ask you to respect the confidentiality of those documents when published in terms of availability outside the fencing community, as has been agreed at previous AFF General Meetings. We therefore request that these documents are not distributed by email, posted to any web site, or made available via social media. We would – however – strongly encourage you access any and all relevant documents via the Portal, as access via the Portal will not be limited.
As with all AFF General Meetings, the 2014 AGM is open to any "registered fencer" of the AFF - any person for whom the prescribed capitation has been paid with the AFF through their affiliated State Association.
Referees for AFC Cadets / Under-15s - Call for Nominations
The AFF is now calling for nominations from members of the fencing community wishing to referee at the AFC Cadets / Under-15s tournament in Sydney from 5-9 July, 2014.
To nominate to referee at this event, select the "Nominations Calls" link at the top of this page. Nominations close Thursday 24 April 2014. You will need to register in the portal if you have not already done so. The AFF will contribute to selected referees' travel and accommodation costs and will pay a per diem for the duration of the days undertaking official activities during the tournament.
In order to be selected, you will need to have a National refereeing accreditation.
Under-23 National Championships - UPDATED
At a Delegates Workshop in November, 2013 the possibility of holding an AFC Under-23 event was raised. This was to be further examined by the Tournament Management Commission (TMC), on the basis of having staggered events over AFC #1, #2 and #3, and on the basis that this event would be a National Championship event. In early 2014, the scheduling of a round of the Under-23 National Championships to coincide with AFC #1 in 2014 was deemed not to be feasible due to time constraints. It was decided, however, that the alternative scheduling of events – one weapon per round – should take place over AFC #2, AFC #3, and AFC Juniors in 2014 as follows:
* Under-23 National Foil Championships – in conjunction with AFC #2 (Adelaide, June)
* Under-23 National Sabre Championships – in conjunction with AFC #3 (Perth, September)
* Under-23 National Epee Championships – in conjunction with AFC Juniors (Brisbane, September)
The event timing for the Under-23 National Foil Championships now appears on this web site (All News Items, National Events). Event schedules for the Sabre Championships are currently being worked on. Note that the overlap between AFC Juniors and UniGames will also now need to accommodate the Under-23s Epee Championships.

2014 Fencing Singapore International
The Australian Fencing Federation is calling for registrations from any Senior or Veteran fencers who may wish to compete in the Fencing Singapore International ("FSI") on 12-15 June, 2014. The detailed schedule for the 2014 FSI will not be available for some weeks, but athletes may wish to review the online documentation from last year's event for some aspects of this event (www.fsi.org.sg).
Second round Australian athlete registrations are now open through the AFF Registration and Payment System (click here), and will close on 12 May 2014. Interested athletes should note carefully the Operation Protocol associated with costs for this event (see here). A nomination deposit amount of $200 per event has been set in anticipation of the estimated number of fencers likely to attend, as well as the cost of entry.
Please note that entry may only be made through the AFF (i.e. not directly to Fencing Singapore). It is not expected that the AFF will send Tour Officials to this event. In the event that sufficient athletes are entered in the relevant event, the Selection Commission will also select fencers for the Teams events.

Call for Nominations - AFT-AFS Juniors and Cadets
Following the World Cadet and Junior Championships, the AFF is calling for interested fencers to nominate for the Australian Fencing Team and the Australian Fencing Squad for 2014/2015. Nominations will only be accepted by 2 May (AFT) or 6 May (AFS) via the AFF’s Registration and Payment System.
To Nominate follow this link: https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=12413
To see who has already nominated, follow this link: https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/ParticipantList.aspx?E=12413
The AFF has provided a significant amount of source information regarding the AFF's High Performance Program on this web site under the High Performance menu, including a flowchart and some frequently asked questions.
Please ensure that you nominate for the correct age category under the correct program (AFT or AFS); for the purposes of the Selection Policy, a Cadet fencer is one born 1998-2001, and a Junior fencer is one born in 1995-2001 (these are aligned with the international eligibility requirements). Please also ensure that you fully understand the athlete commitments that are required under the AFT - these can be found in the High Performance Annual Program (High Performance menu at left, High Performance Program option).
The selection process and timeline will follow the Operational Protocol found on this web site under the Documents and Policies menu / All Documents and Policies option.
