Commissions
Athletes Representative
Chaired by Andrew Harcourt.
The role of the Athletes Representative Commission is to:
- Conduct information seminars for athletes at appropriate national forums (e.g. camps, tournaments)
- Represent the interests and views of athletes at national meetings.
Coaching Development
Chaired by Helen Smith.
The role of the Coaching Development Commission is to:
- Advise on state, national and international level coaching courses thru OFMA
- Oversee conduct of state and national coaching development programs
- Conduct assessment for national and international accreditation of coaches
- Advise HPC on development of training and touring programs for weapon squads and teams
Communications & Promotion
Chaired by Andrew Harcourt.
The role of the Communications and Promotions Commission is to:
- Develop and manage Federation internal communications
- Manage Federation’s media promotions
- Identify, develop and service sponsorship and marketing opportunities
- Include role of former Apparel Commission
Finance and Administration
Chaired by Helen Smith.
The role of the Finance and Administration Commission is to:
- Oversee development and administration of annual AFF budget
- Co-ordinate preparation of reports and submissions for meetings and representations
High Performance
Chaired by Helen Smith.
The role of the HPC is to:
- Develop, manage and review Federation’s High Performance Program (HPP) including:
- training and touring programs for weapon squads and teams;
- annual training & competition plans of identified elite athletes
- training and touring programs for weapon squads and teams;
- Advise on duties & annual work plan of national weapon coaches
- Recommend allocation of funding for HPP
Masters and Veterans
Chaired by Andrew Ius.
The role of the Masters' and Veterans' Commisssion is to:
- Develop, promote and administer Masters and Veterans fencing under auspices of AFF
- Advise SC on selection criteria
- Advise TMC on specific rules for Masters and Veterans tournaments
Medical
Chaired by Neil Herzog.
The role of the Medical Commission is to advise on matters affecting the health and welfare of athletes, particularly FIE, AOC and government anti-doping policies
Membership and Development
Chaired by Neil Herzog.
The role of the Membership and Development Commission is to:
- Review and recommend changes to the structure, process and fees associated with registration of fencers
- Identify strategies to increase the number of registered fencers, including promotional programs which might be undertaken in partnership
Officiating
Chaired by Peter Osvath.
The role of the Officiating Commission is to:
- Develop and regularly update referee competencies list
- Oversee development and conduct of state and national referee development programs
- Organise assessment for national and international accreditation of referees
- Appoint referees and provide them with performance appraisal at national and international AFF auspiced tournaments
Selection
Chaired by Peter Osvath.
The role of the Selection Commission is to:
- Select individuals and teams as appropriate for all international competitions
- Advise on selection policies and criteria
- Advise on composition and membership of weapon squads
- Advise HPC on training and touring programs for weapon squads and teams
Tournament Management
Chaired by Alex Donaldson.
The Tournament Management Commission's role is to:
- ensure that all AFF tournaments are held in accordance with FIE and AFF rules;
- examine and recommend all applications for tournaments;
- appoint DT for all AFF tournaments;
- publish details of and promote tournaments
